Soberivra - Drink Less

Privacy Policy

What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.

Soberivra - Drink Less is an app for adults who want to understand and reduce their drinking. This policy explains what stays on your phone, what you can choose to send to our server, and how to delete it. It covers the app on iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website. For any privacy question or request, write to us through the support page.

The short version

  • Your drink journal, alcohol-free days, goals, reasons and notes stay in the app's private storage on your device. We do not upload them.
  • Nothing goes to an AI feature unless you choose to use it and agree first. Only what you choose to send (text, a voice clip, a photo or a summary you pick) leaves your device. It is used to write your answer, and our server does not store it.
  • Our server keeps a small set of anonymous records: an install identifier, usage counters, and any report you send about an AI answer. They hold no journal entries, no name and no e-mail address.
  • Analytics and crash reports are off until you turn them on, and they never include health information.
  • There are no ads, we do not track you across other apps, and we never sell your data.
  • You can delete your data on your device and your records on our server under You, then Privacy and data, whenever you like.

Your journal stays on your device

Your drinks (type, size, strength, time, trigger, mood, cost and note), alcohol-free days, plan, goals, personal reasons, reminders and app preferences are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Soberivra does not upload or sync this journal to our servers.

Information about drinking is health information and can be sensitive. You decide what to record, and you can leave any detail out.

You can export your journal as a CSV or JSON file, or as a summary PDF to share with a clinician. You choose where the file goes through your device's share sheet. Anyone you share it with can keep their own copy, and deleting data in Soberivra does not delete those copies. Backups made by your device or operating system follow your device settings and are outside our control.

What you choose to send to AI features

Soberivra has optional AI features: a coach chat, urge support, logging a drink from a sentence, a voice clip or a photo, weekly and monthly reflections, a plan builder and swap ideas. They stay off until you read the consent screen and agree. You can withdraw that consent under You, then Privacy and data, at any time.

When you use one of them, only what you choose to send leaves your device:

  • Text you type: coach messages, your answers in the plan builder, or the sentence you want turned into a drink entry.
  • A voice clip you record, up to 60 seconds, which is turned into text.
  • A photo you take or pick, resized before it is sent.
  • A summary you choose to share: recent dates, standard-drink totals, goals, triggers and moods. Your written notes are not part of it.

Our server checks the request, passes it to an AI model provider to write your answer, and returns the answer to your device. Our server does not store what you send or the answer. The provider processes it to produce your answer. Please leave out names, contact details and other identifying information.

A safety check runs on what you send. When it suggests a crisis or withdrawal risk, the app shows help options above the answer. AI answers can be wrong, and every one has a Report button. If you send a report, we keep it as described below.

Your anonymous account and secure access

The first time you agree to AI features, the app creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase Authentication. You give no name, e-mail address or password. The app also creates a signing key that stays in protected storage on your device (the Secure Enclave or Keychain on iPhone and iPad, the Android Keystore on Android). The key signs your requests so our server can tell they come from your install.

Firebase App Check uses Apple's or Google's app-verification service to confirm that a request comes from the genuine app. Google processes account identifiers, verification information and network information such as your IP address for these purposes. Our website and API are delivered through Cloudflare, which also sees network information such as your IP address when you connect. Requests travel over HTTPS.

What our server keeps

  • Install record: the anonymous install identifier, the anonymous Firebase user identifier, the public half of your signing key, your platform and the app version.
  • Usage counters: which AI feature was used on which day and how many times, with a request identifier and a result code. They enforce the daily allowance and protect the service from abuse.
  • Subscription status: when you use an AI feature, our server asks Apple or Google to confirm that your subscription is active and keeps the result for a limited time.
  • Reports: if you report an AI answer, the feature, the request identifier, your reason, your optional note and the excerpt you approved before sending.

These records contain no journal entries, no name, no e-mail address and nothing you typed to an AI feature, and no voice or photo. Records with no activity for 180 days are deleted automatically, and reports are kept for up to 180 days.

Delete your account and data

Soberivra - Drink Less has no sign-up. The only account is the anonymous one described above, and you can delete it and its server records yourself.

In the app

  1. Open Soberivra and go to the You tab, then Privacy and data.
  2. Choose Delete AI and server data, and confirm.

This deletes your install record, your usage counters, your saved subscription status, the reports you sent and your anonymous account. The app creates a new anonymous account only if you use an AI feature again. Your journal on the device is separate: Privacy and data also has Delete all my data, and removing the app deletes it too.

By request

If you can no longer open the app, write to us through the support page with the subject "Delete my data". Tell us your platform (iPhone, iPad or Android) and roughly when you used AI features. Our records are anonymous, so we can delete only what we can match to your install. Records we cannot match are deleted automatically after 180 days without activity. We use your message only to answer your request.

What stays after deletion

  • Your subscription. Apple or Google holds it, and deleting app data does not cancel it. Manage or cancel it in Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions.
  • Files you exported and shared, which belong to whoever received them.
  • Analytics and crash reports Google already received if you had turned them on. They are tied to an app-instance identifier, not your name, and follow Firebase's own retention settings.

Subscriptions

Apple's App Store or Google Play handles purchases and billing under the store's own terms. Soberivra does not receive your payment-card details. The app reads your store's purchase records to know whether your subscription is active and to restore purchases. Our terms describe the plans.

Optional analytics and crash reports

Both are off by default and share one switch, Share anonymous usage and crash reports, under You, then Privacy and data. Advertising identifiers are not collected.

If you turn on analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase receives basic events about how the app is used, such as which screen was opened, plus technical details its SDK handles: app version, device model, operating-system version and an app-instance identifier and an approximate area derived from your IP address. Events contain no health information: no drink entries, notes, moods, goals or AI messages.

If you turn on crash reports, Firebase Crashlytics receives technical data when the app crashes: app and operating-system versions, device model, a stack trace and an installation identifier.

Turning a switch off stops new collection. It does not remove what Google already received. See Firebase's privacy information for how it processes and keeps data.

Camera, microphone, photos and notifications

The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to photograph or pick a drink, bottle or menu. The microphone is used only while you record a voice log. Reminders are optional and scheduled on your device once you allow notifications. You can use the rest of the app without granting any of these.

Sharing, ads and sale of data

Information reaches only these providers: Apple and Google (purchases and app verification), Google Firebase (anonymous account, app verification and, if you opt in, analytics and crash reports), Cloudflare (delivery and protection), the hosting provider that runs our server, and the AI model provider that answers what you choose to send. They may process information in the United States and other countries.

Soberivra has no ads and no advertising SDKs. We do not sell your data, share it for advertising or use it for profiling.

Your choices and rights

You can turn off AI consent, analytics and crash reports, and reminders at any time, export your journal, and delete your local and server data as described above. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to object to its use and to complain to a data protection authority. Write to us through the support page. Because we hold no name or e-mail address for our records, we can act only on records we can match to your install.

Not medical advice

Soberivra is a self-management tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, including alcohol use disorder. AI answers are not medical care. Standard-drink figures are estimates based on the volume and strength you enter. The app does not measure blood alcohol and cannot tell you whether you are fit to drive.

Stopping suddenly after heavy or regular drinking can cause withdrawal, which can be dangerous. If you drink most days, or have had shaking, sweating or trouble sleeping when you cut down, talk to a doctor or nurse before you change how much you drink.

Get urgent care now for a seizure, confusion or seeing or hearing things that are not there, severe shaking, chest pain, a racing heartbeat with fever, or vomiting that will not stop. Emergency numbers: 911 in the US and Canada, 112 in the EU, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call your local emergency number now. In the US and Canada you can also call or text 988. The Medical help section in the app is available without a subscription.

Children

Soberivra is for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
